Review : Made for current pop listening
I really wanted to like these, I received them as a gift and was looking forward to replacing some very old, uncomfortable, but excellent reference headphones. I should start by saying my preference is for "crisp" clear sounds. I am not a fan of the current trend of "warming" I burned these in by playing a varied non-repeating library of rock, pop, alternative and holiday tracks for some 30 hours. I like to hear the fingering/fret work by artists when it is present, the entrance of strings in classical tracks,and the sometimes audible vocal nuances present in live performance recordings. I have found that my pair of master tracks smooths/blends or warms tones and emphasizes bass where only a minor emphasis existed in the original. I have also found some dropout in the mid-range where some phrasing is very briefly but noticeably muffled almost as if dropped, perhaps by the crossover.
